What is Somatic Therapy?
“I made more progress in a single Somatic Therapy session than 8 years of traditional talking therapy ”
What is Somatic Therapy?
Somatic therapy is a form of psychotherapy that focuses on the connection between the mind and body. The belief is that they are interconnected and that our experiences can manifest physically as symptoms. Somatic Therapy engages with effective techniques to allow symptoms to speak and once they have been heard, ailments can lessen or cease entirely. The sessions help individuals become more aware of what they may be holding and gives them the space and opportunity to release what might be preventing them from a living a freer, unburdened life.
Techniques
The session is refreshingly relaxing and unconfrontational. Both the client and practitioner are seated with eyes closed and engage using simple dialogue and visualisation. The session then ends with the client reclining comfortably, blanketed, receiving gentle touch and a crystal bowl sound bath.
Somatic Therapy Can Help:
- Reduce or eliminate anxiety and depression.
- Reduce or eliminate physical symptoms in whatever form.
- Aid in processing the loss of a loved one.
- Cope with the effects of separation and divorce.
- Support recovery from addiction.
- Provide clarity in life, work, and relationships.
How many sessions do I need?
The benefits of Somatic Therapy are often felt after a single session, although on going sessions are reccomended for deeper work.
“Our symptoms can be the expression of our true selves. When we listen, our ailments often subside”
“Our body holds our life story. Unresolved issues from the past remain alive within us, influencing our day-to-day living”
