My doula experience…

“This was my second birth and I opted for a homebirth in water.

In the early stages of labour I was able to recall the visualisations and practice some of the spiraling movements Stina had recommended. These all helped me find peace and surrender to the birthing process.

As the surges got stronger, I really took comfort in Stina's presence (in fact I didn't want her to leave my side!). She intuitively knew what I needed - light touch massage, positive encouragement, applying pressure to my lower back, helping me change position or warming the pool. Feeling this support meant I was able to trust in the birthing process and that my body knew what to do.

Choosing Stina was the best choice I could have made for my baby and I. We established a close relationship and she enabled me to share my hopes and fears around the birthing experience.”
